Naomi Osaka is an extraordinary young athlete. At 23 she already has 4 Grand Slam titles to her name.

Every single person has a right to put their mental wellness first.  If that means not speaking to the press in the middle of a tournament that should not only be allowed but applauded.

From my vantage point she was essentially bullied into withdrawing from the French Open by the organizers. So much of sports is already horribly exploitative and I hope that more athletes follow her lead. Her exceptional skill on the court doesn’t make her a Shero but her taking a stand by putting her mental wellness first and enforcing health boundaries absolutely does.
