I saw the blockbuster Alexander McQueen retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum. The dresses were magnificent, spectacularly crafted, creative and full of imagination. I found the dresses were evocative of myth and fairytale with secrets and stories to tell.
This dress had a fitted jacket of gilded feathers and a full tulle skirt with dark gold embroidery and an uneven, ragged hem. I saw it on a queen of woodland elves, as she glided through the forest....light dappling through the trees. Perhaps she is on a mission to save her people, she is powerful, a little tattered and fiercely beautiful, full of magic and secrets.
My paintings are Oils on Yupo Paper, a brand new archival, American made plastic paper. The paper gives paintings a luminous quality that is unique to the medium.
